Our surgeons have performed thousands of lymph node biopsy procedures for purposes of diagnosing cancers, infections and various diseases. In these procedures, a small sample of lymph node tissue is extracted for close examination of its pathology under a microscope. This may be accomplished via percutaneous fine needle aspiration or core needle biopsy, wherein a special needle collects the sample, or via open or “surgical” biopsy that allows for a larger tissue sample. In the surgical procedure, one or more lymph nodes are removed via a small incision. Patients who have one or more persistently enlarged lymph nodes and those diagnosed with various forms of cancer may be recommended for a lymph node biopsy.

If you have been referred for a lymph node biopsy or would like to know more about the procedure, contact us at 727.270.9927 and arrange for your personal consultation with one of our esteemed physicians.
