Dr. Astra at Florida Hospital North Pinellas Surgical Institute places endovascular stent grafts to shore up a weak and bulging area within an artery so as to avoid a ruptured aneurysm. Such stents may be used in treating patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms, thoracic aortic aneurysms and occasionally aneurysms that occur elsewhere in the body.

This non-surgical technique for resolving an aneurysm employs advanced imaging and instrumentation to place a stent graft via a catheter, and does not require the patient to be under general anesthesia.
